on 2nd october 1872, Phileas Fogg went to his club for dinner.

After dinner , he played cards with his five partners. they talked about a robbery at the bank of england.

some believed that the police would be able to catch the robber. others thought the robber would escape to another country.

one partner said that it was now possible to go around the world in three months.

fogg said it would take him only eighty days.he suddenly made a bet of 20,000 pounds that he could go

around the world in eighty days.

his partners agreed to accept the bet at 4,000 pounds each. thus, a journey of a life time began for fogg!
